4th September 2016: Regata Storica. First Sunday in September.

During the Regata Storica in Venice (first Sunday in September) you will be able to watch a procession of ornate boats grace the Grand Canal of Venice. Local Venetians, dressed in 16th Century costumes, will man the boats. And once they have rowed past, the boat racing will begin. It is a popular event amongst locals and visitors alike. The race will finish between Palazzo Barbi and Ca’ Foscari – where there is a sharp curve in the Grand Canal.

17th September 2016: the “Bocca di Fuoco” (Mouth of fire Run) in Murano

The Mouth of fire in Murano Island is a very special event and a way to enhance the Venetian traditions: it is a walk / run of 5 km through five glass furnaces in full operation. An exclusive race for only 300 participants, at night, throught “calli” (little venetian streets) and bridges.

Everyone knows that The Venice Carnival is an annual festival held in Venice. The Carnival starts around two weeks before Ash Wednesday and ends on Shrove Tuesday (Fat Tuesday or Martedì Grasso), the day before Ash Wednesday. This year is from 23rd January to 9th February.

She is an old woman with a long nose and dressed up with old clothes, a cloak on her shoulders and a broom between her legs; she delivers sweets or coal to italian kids and it depends if they are good or bad during the year.
