"Il Bragozzo" BOAT TOUR
Day Tour
This is a really unique and fun experience, totally different from any other boat tours. Sailing across the northern part of the lagoon on this typical flat bottomed merchant's boat passing the islands of the lagoon we arrive at the island of "San Francesco del Deserto".
It is believed that Saint Francis founded the chapel here when he ran aground on his boat returning from the east. A friendly Franciscan friar will guide you around its beautiful 14th Century cloisters and gardens telling you the history of the island, which can only be reached by a private boat as there are no public boat services running to this island.
We then sail a short distance across the lagoon to the colourful island of Burano, famous for its intricate lace work, its brightly coloured miniature houses and fishing industry.
You will have time to browse around the island, visit the elegant lace shops and see a display of one of the few remaining people who still know how to make lace using the old technique of lace work "Venetian point".
Leaving the island of Burano we take a relaxing sail passing the islands of Mazzorbo, Murano and the cemetery island of Saint Michele before arriving back in Venice.
