PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
There are several types of public
transportation that can bring you
to the island of Venice and the
lagoon. We recommend walking as
much as possible so that you get
a feel for the city and discover
it’s over 500 calles, 400
bridges, 200+ churches and endless
canals. But you will need to rest
your weary feet too, so we have
gathered a few options for getting
about this wondrous city on water........
ACTV
Venice offers excellent public
transportation by waterbus (Vaporetto)
and ferries (Motonave e Traghetto).
With over 30 stops around the
island
this is convenient way to quickly
get around the city. There are
few
ticket choices available ie: one
way/return/daily/family and 3
day
pass. Tickets can also be purchased
immediately on board.
ALILAGUNA
From the Marco Polo airport in
Venice you can take the public waterbus
operated by Alilaguna. The navigational
route covered by Alilaguna extends
for approximately 17 Km along the
canals within the Venice municipal
area. It consists of two lines that
connect 10 different landing areas.
At the principal landing stages
it is possible to purchase tickets
at the booths run directly by Alilaguna
or by the VeLa company, or you can
also purchase tickets on board.
It is also very convenient for the
Cruise line passengers to reach
the airport or S. Mark’s Square
with this service.
ATVO
– Treviso airport to Venice
The most convenient way to get
from Treviso airport (S. Guiseppe)
to Venice (Pzzle. Roma) is to take
the ATVO bus which has a time schedule
organized to accommodate flights
arriving and departing. You will
arrive in Venice at Piazzale Roma,
from where you can walk or take
a waterbus into the heart of the
city.
TRENITALIA
– Itialian railway
Train is the most convenient overland
option for reaching Venice from
other Italian cities or abroad.
A wide variety of trains run on
the Italian rail network. They start
with all-stops regionali (regional),
a slow local train. Inter-regionale
cover greater distances and don’t
make as many stops. You also have
the Eurostar trains which can get
you to your destination in a shorter
amount of time as they move at 300km/h.
