St. Anthony of Padua is the patron saint of "lost things". Considered one of the greatest preachers in the history of the Catholic Church, St. Anthony also became known as a "wonder-worker" and many miracles were attributed to him during and after his lifetime. He lived in the 13th c. and was inspired by his contemporary St. Francis. This tour includes a guided visit of the Basilica of St. Anthony in Padua, where you will see relics, chalices, gifts, and documents relating to his life. The Basilica has four cloisters and contains many precious decorations. At the end of the visit you can write your own prayer of petition to St. Anthony, and place it on his tomb.
Our religious itinerary takes us to the hill town of Monselice, with its impressive medieval architectures and castle. Starting from the centre, the walk up to the "seven churches" will take you to the top of the hill with beautiful views. You will have free time to walk around and for an optional lunch. On our return we drive through the beautiful Euganean hills, ending our day at the Abbey of Praglia. Harmonious and austere to a time, the abbey preserves, in the silence of its cloisters, a precious inheritance of history and art. Among this, the botanical cloister witnesses an ancient tradition showing us the love and care the Benedictine monks have for the different aspects of nature. This secular experience is still wisely preserved today in the products that the abbey has available for people appreciating the goodness of the simple and natural things.
